Mark
S. Gross, MD, SC Board-Certified Orthopedic Surgeon
Dr. Mark Gross has been in private practice at Lake Cook Orthopedic Associates
since 1985. His specialty interests include the treatment of spinal disorders,
arthritis, sports medicine, fractures, pediatric orthopedics, hand and foot
problems and neurologic abnormalities. He specializes in comprehensive conservative
and surgical intervention in these areas.
Dr. Gross is an Attending Physician at Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington,
Illinois. During his career he has served as Chairman of the Department of Surgery,
Medical Director of the Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital Spine Center, Chairman
of Surgical Steering Committee, Chairman of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee,
Chairman of Surgical Medical Case Evaluation Committee as well as a variety
of other committee appointments. He is Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery
since 1987. He is a member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery, the
North American Spine Society, the Chicago Medical Society, Illinois State Medical
Society and the American Medical Association. He has given numerous community
presentations in the areas of Sports Medicine, Arthritis Management and Total
Joint Replacement, and the Treatment of Spinal Disorders.
Dr. Gross attended Loyola Academy High School in Wilmette, Illinois. He then
attended Northwestern University in the Honors Program in Medical Education,
getting his undergraduate degree in 1978 and Medical Degree in 1980. His Orthopedic
Residency was at Loyola University Medical Center and its affiliated hospitals.
He served as Chief Resident at LUMC in 1985 and was Chief Resident at Shriners
Hospital in Oak Park in 1984.
Dr. Gross has been actively involved in community activities in Barrington as
well as Wilmette, where he currently resides. Volunteer activities have included
School Board Chairman at St. Anne School, Parish Pastoral Chairman at St. Anne
Church, Coach of the Wilmette Girls Travel Basketball Program, Coach of Trevian
Softball Association 12U teams, as well as Stroke and Turn Official for United
States Swimming.
Dr. Gross enjoys golf, tennis, swimming, cycling and scuba diving. He and his
wife, Christine, are avid patrons of the theatre and fine arts that Chicago
has to offer. His two older children, Steven and Kristin, are pursuing careers
in medicine. His youngest child, Jaclyn, participates in AAU Basketball and
attends school in Wilmette.
